Ocean Beach

The bohemian heart of insanediego

OB as it’s called by the locals is known for its beautiful sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and the place where the sun sets insanediego.  If you are in town any Wednesday come by the 4900 block of Newport Ave. in OB for the Farmers Market, for some of the best fresh produce from the local farms. The OB Farmers Market has something for everyone and is a truly unique free spirited and funky vibe that emanates from this California beach community. Not only the best fresh produce but also tasty meals, arts and crafts created the local artisans, live music and an evening of fun for young and old alike. Take a walk out onto the pier and check out the catch from the local fisherman, it doesn’t get any fresher than this, you can watch the surfers cutting up the waves and remember the sun is always free here insanediego. Another great thing is the Original Dog Beach in San Diego, CA is nationally famous and one of the first official leash-free beaches in the United States.  As such, the Dog Beach Committee honors its legacy as a melting pot for people and dogs, all sizes, shapes, colors, creeds, and breeds. I have a Shepard mut and two little Pinny-poo mut’s that love to run the beach and play in the surf with the other dogs.  A fun time is had by all at the dog beach, large and small alike. When insanediego check the web site insanediego.net and go to the Surf Report and they will tell you when low tide will be. Some of the best tide pools on the west coast are in OB, just get there about an hour before low tide and you will see some amazing sea life in the pools. Tide pools are a look and see but don’t touch kind of fun thing to do insanediego. You’ll find sea anemones, crabs, small fish, if your lucky Octopus and starfish, a great to bring the kids of all ages. I also love to explore Sunset Cliffs Natural Park in OB, it stretches between Point Loma and OB and has some great places for ocean viewing. Luscomb point and Osprey street are great photo opportunities and an amazing place to watch the sun go down. OB is magical and a must see when insanediego!
